How do I apply for financial aid?

Steps in the Financial Aid Process:

  1. Complete and submit FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at www.fafsa.ed.gov or mail direct to Central Christian’s Financial Aid Office if interested in financial assistance.
  2. Complete a Master Promissory Note and Entrance Loan Counseling online.
  3. Once your FAFSA is processed, you may be requested to submit additional verification documents.
  4. After the Financial Aid Office receives all requested documents you will receive an Official Award Letter.  Sign your Official Award Letter and return to the Financial Aid Office.
  5. You will need to repeat steps 1, 5, and 6 one or two times during your enrollment in EXCEL.

Who should attend?

For working adults who have completed 45 college credits, with at least 30 credits being from a regionally accredited college.

Is there an age requirement?
Students should be in their early twenties with some work experience to begin the program.

Is there financial aid?
Yes. Most students qualify for federal loans, and some are eligible for grants. A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required to determine eligibility.
What if previous credit is lacking?
Experiences through the military, job training, or other educational pursuits outside college could be used as equivalent college credits. The types and extent of prior learning and work experiences are weighed and given careful consideration for college credit. CLEP exams for credit are also available in many subject areas.

How many credits to graduate?

On Ground
On Ground programs are 120 credits with the last 48 in the EXCEL Ministry or Organizational Leadership degrees.

Online
Full Organizational Leadership degree is 123 credits
Healthcare degree completion is 123 credits
Criminal Justice, Sport Management, Ministry, and Aviation Science degree completion is 120 credits

How are classes structured?
On Ground

The program is offered to small groups of 8-15 students who learn together for the entire 18 months. The students form a support system in which advanced learning can take place. The EXCEL program is specifically designed to enhance the educational experience in this collaborative environment. New students are merged into existing groups at coordinated starting times.

Online
For the Full Org Leadership and the Healthcare degrees, each course is six-week long classes. There are weekly reading and homework assignments taken from the textbooks and discussions throughout the course.

Who does the teaching?

On Ground
The facilitators have masters or doctoral academic credentials plus significant professional experience. Working adult students bring a wide variety of business experience into the collaborative discussions that relate theoretical concepts and academic research to business applications.

Online
The classes will be facilitated by an instructor with a Master’s or Doctorate and experienced in the industry.

Is the program accredited?
Established in 1884, Central Christian College has been located in McPherson since 1914. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association. The college offers traditional classes as well as the degree completion program.

When do classes start?

On Ground
A student could start throughout the year at any course for the first 12 courses. After that, it will be 20 weeks before another start will begin within a in progress program.

Online
