Bachelor of Science/Liberal Studies Major - Literature Track

The Liberal Studies Major is a unique major.  It offers you the opportunity not only to develop skills related to Literature, but you also get a chance to tailor your educational experience based on your future plans.  It is a much more diverse major than traditional majors and can provide you with better preparation for continued studies or employment.  It is through this major that you can learn how to make a career in literature work in the real world.

As you look at the major, you will notice that there are three components, or steps, that allow you to specifically design your major according to your educational needs.  Let's look at each one separately.

Component 1 - General Education

To help keep your educational experience broad enough to deal with the reality of the real world marketplace, this major requires that you complete a series of General Education Courses.  These courses include:

Component 2 - Literature Track

Building on the foundation you will receive through the General Education Core, you can further tailor your educational program by choosing two tracks. Being that you are reading this page, we will assume that your first track choice is Literature.  Some of the classes you might be taking include:

Stage 3 - Choose Your Second Track

Now, you will need to choose a second track. What do you want to do with your education in Literature?  In what field do you want to work?  How you answer these questions will help you determine what your second track should be.  Do you want to teach drama in a school setting? Then you may want to check out one of the tracks related to Communications.  Perhaps you would like to manage your own bookstore.  Then you might want to check out Small Business Management as your second track.  Below, you will find the academic areas you may choose from, and the tracks related to each.
