Academics at Central Christian College

Dr. Jerry Alexander

We want to thank you for checking out what Central Christian College has to offer you academically.  As you take time to familiarize yourself with our academic programs, please do not forget that our Christian perspective and heritage is at the center of all we do, including in the classroom.  While you are looking through information concerning courses, degree requirements, and tracks just remember we want to give you a chance to acquire a lot more than a quality Christian education.  Each of us here at Central Christian is dedicated to providing you with an educational encounter that will prepare you to fulfill God's design for your life.

What Does Central Offer?

Central Christian College has eight academic departments: Business, Pre-Education, Social Science, Communications, Music/Art/Drama, Science/Mathematics/Aviation,  Philosophy/Religion, and Sport Science & Health (Physical Education).  You can find out more about specific courses of study and majors, by using the link below.

List of Majors/Areas of Study

We offer the following bachelor's degrees: Many people believe that going to a smaller college means giving up options, but the truth is that Central is able to offer over 885 different educational plans.  That is a lot to choose from.  Furthermore, because of our size, we can promise that you will receive personalized guidance as you choose the plan that is best for your educational goals.  That is the difference we offer.  Which would you prefer, a personalized educational plan or having to settle for some generic degree, prescribed by an advisor that may not have your personal interests in mind?

What is a Liberal Studies Major?

Central's unique major is Liberal Studies.  Students seeking this degree will gain a broad background of knowledge, as well as specialized training.  This major offers the student a choice of seven concentrations: Business, Communications, Social Science, Science/Math, Humanities, Philosophy/Religion, and Sport Science & Health (Physical Education).  Students may also select different areas of emphases (tracks) within each concentration.  Currently, there are thirty-eight tracks from which to choose.   This allows students, working with their advisors, to customize their degrees according to their personal and career interests.

All students majoring in Liberal Studies take a General Education Core of courses designed to develop their people-skills (communication and decision-making) and critical-thinking skills.  These courses constitute a very important component of the degree, as a lack of these skills is a major concern to the world of employment.

Central Christian College alumni, throughout America and the world, are treated with the greatest respect in terms of their productivity, achievement, citizenship, and Christian influence.

Is Central Christian Accredited?

Central Christian College, accredited by The Higher Learning Commission - North Central Association, is over 100 years old, and is known for its high-quality academic programs.   CCC also offers associate's degrees for transfer and for technical training.  Central was recognized and accredited by the State Department of Education in 1918 making it the oldest accredited junior college in Kansas.  Central Christian has been approved to offer educational benefits under the Veterans Administration Educational Program. The college has also been approved by the U.S. Office of Education for administering federal programs of student aid.

What Makes Central Christian So Special?

That's a great question.  Of course, the best way to really understand what makes Central Christian different, is to come visit our campus.  You can find out more about how to do that by using the following link: How To Visit Campus.

The most important difference is the Christian perspective you will receive during your time here. Unlike some schools that have Christian in their name, but keep Christ out of the classroom,  Central is serious about keeping Christ at the center of all we do. We are dedicated to providing you with a personalized Christian educational experience, while at the same time helping you grow to your full potential in Christ.  You can be assured that your professors will help you to not only understand concepts associated with academic disciplines, but they will also help you understand where God fits into the picture

Of significant strength is our academic environment.  Most classes have an average of 16 students.  This means you will benefit from a personalized education, an education where you and the instructor have the chance to interact on a regular basis.  Here at Central Christian you will not become a number.  Each student is viewed as a unique individual.
