Small Business Major/Music
The Bachelor of Science in Business degree with the Small Business
Major - emphasis in Music is especially suited for those
interested in music and/or retail sales. Students interested in
the areas of music and
marketing will find a good market for music sales people, managers, and
music
store owners. There are presently 6,000 retail music stores in
the
United States that employ thousands as sales clerks, managers, dealers,
teachers, and repair technicians. The sale of music and musical
instruments has been steadily progressing and Christian music is
currently the fastest growing market in the nation.
How Does it Work?
The Small Business/Music program is a four year, experience based
course of
study that leads to a Bachelor of Science in Business degree.
Requirements for the degree require you to concentrate in three
different areas. Let's look at each one separately.
Component 1 - General
Education Requirements
To help
keep your educational experience broad enough
to deal with the reality of the world marketplace, this degree
requires that
you complete a series of General Education Courses. These courses
include:
6 hrs English Composition I & II
3 hrs Principles of Speech
3 hrs Philosophy or Modern Culture & Christianity
2 hrs Fitness and Wellness
1 hr P.E. Activity or Varsity Sport
3 hrs Math
4 hrs Science
3 hrs Personal Finance or Marriage & Family
2 hrs Computer Literacy
3 hrs History
3 hrs Psychology or Sociology
6 hrs Bible Survey Course I & II
3 hrs Old Testament Course
3 hrs New Testament Course
4 hrs Humanities
Component 2 - Business
Courses
Being that this is a Business Degree, it would only make sense that you
will be taking a few business courses. These courses will help
give you a
competitive edge in the business principles associated with small
business and the music industry. The courses include:
