Music Two Year Career Entry Programs

Central Christian College maintains two year and career entry programs in the Music department to provide for the needs of our students.  Students who complete the two year Associate in Arts degree will find an easy transition into the four year Bachelor of Science in Music or the Bachelor of Science/Liberal Studies major because the general education requirements are very similar.

Music Ministry
This is a two year program which leads to the Associate in Arts degree or as an emphasis concentration for the Bachelor of Science in Ministry degree.

The ministry of music, one of the fastest growing areas of music, is a rewarding and challenging area of service for the musician who is seeking a full or part-time position in the local church.  Music ministers should strive to take a broad spectrum of courses in music with an emphasis in voice, choral conducting, keyboard and instrumental techniques.

Contemporary Christian Music

This two year program leads to the Associate in Arts degree and is designed for the student who wishes to complete a bachelors degree.  This program can be combined with the Music or Liberal Studies major.

Contemporary Christian Music is the fastest growing segment of the music industry.  Studies in contemporary Christian music will sharpen performance skills, develop a working knowledge of today’s high-tech sound equipment, and help shape a philosophy of music as a tool to minister to people within the contemporary culture.

Central Christian is one of the few colleges nationwide to allow students open access to a 16-track digital recording studio.

Studio Production Techniques

Music Performance
This is a two year program leading to the Associate in Arts degree.   This program can be combined with the Music or the Liberal Studies major.

Music performance will prepare the student for the many performance opportunities that are found in every church and community, and provide the option to open a private teaching studio and/or pursue a professional career on the concert circuit.

Piano Pedagogy
This program leads to the Associate in Arts degree and a piano teaching certificate upon successful completion.  Interested  students should have had training in intermediate or early advanced piano instruction and must have Central's piano instructor’s permission to enroll.  Piano teaching is a creative, rewarding profession which may be a gainful  full-time occupation or part-time occupation at home.
