Sport Science at Central Christian

Soccer moms are beating up officials and the officials are taking bribes.  Beyond that, as a nation, we are overweight, undernourished and exercise deficient.  The physical fitness industry has produced all sorts of products to help us.  Examples of this are Bowflex, Thighmaster and Tae Bo tapes, but in the end (no pun intended) our “Buns of Steel” are as flabby as ever.  The health and fitness industry needs trained professionals who are equipped to meet the needs related to the field of Sport Sciences.

Central Christian College approaches Sport Sciences from a unique vantage point.  Our approach is based on our belief that all human beings are created in the image of God and serve as the dwelling place for the Holy Spirit.  Therefore, the department provides an opportunity for students to view physical fitness as an alliance between mind, body, and spirit.  This is a belief that fits perfectly with the fundamental Christian principles that are the building blocks of our faith.  Sport Science students at Central Christian are equipped with the tools needed to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those they work with.  

In cooperation with the school's athletic program and intramural program, you have the chance not only to learn about Sport Science in the classroom, but also in the field (or on the court).  Besides the programs offered on campus, the faculty of the Sport Science program are working on  a number of strategic alliances. One of these partnerships is with the YMCA and McPherson Recreational Council, which allows Central Christian students the opportunity to practice classroom theory in real life situations.

Since Central Christian College is committed to personalized education, you can be assured that you will have the opportunity not only to learn from your course, but also to personally interact in an active learning environment.  Don't expect large lecture halls with hundreds of students feverishly taking notes, desperately trying to keep up with some professor's lecture.  With an average of 15 -20 students in a class, you can expect a very personal and interactive classroom environment.  Central Christian is a place where faculty and students wrestle together with the issues, and in turn challenge one another to excellence.
