Central Christian College of Kansas is located on an attractive campus in a residential area in the south part of McPherson, Kansas.  McPherson, located 50 miles north of Wichita on I-135, has a population of about 15,000 and is considered a very attractive community.  Among the recreational activities are tennis and racquetball courts, several parks, a YMCA, and a large public swimming pool.  McPherson has many fine businesses in the downtown area, a hospital, a clinic, a selection of offices for dental, medical, chiropractic and optometric care, as well as other services.


Affiliation

Central Christian College is affiliated with the Free Methodist Church of North America.  While accepting and supporting the doctrines of the Free Methodist Church, Central opens its doors and solicits students, regardless of handicap, religious persuasion, race, color, economic status, or geographic location.  The college character and lifestyle are communicated to each prospective student.  Central has a student enrollment of approximately 350, and offers degrees, as highlighted below:


Academics

Bachelor of Science in Business (BSB)
There are four ‘majors' in this degree, including Accounting, Management, Small Business, and Organizational Leadership.  The Accounting and Management majors follow a traditional curriculum track, while the Small Business major is designed for those students who desire to own or work in a small business.

Bachelor of Science in Ministry (BSM)
This degree is designed for students who want to be involved in the ministry and it includes majors in General Ministry, Pastoral Ministry, Worship Arts, and Youth Ministry.  Example careers include pastor, associate pastor, youth pastor, director of outreach, missionary, or Christian education director.

Bachelor of Science (BS) - Communication Major
The two areas of emphases are Mass Communication and Speech/Theatre.  This major endeavors to help students who are seeking to improve their writing and oral communication skills.  Career goals would include writer, TV reporter, radio announcer, actor, publisher, speechwriter, etc.

Bachelor of Science (BS) - English Major
This new major will offer further studies in writing, detailed studies of literature, and introductory studies in modern literary theory. A full course of study in English enables students to interpret and synthesize complex information, competently and creatively communicate as well as employ adaptable research and problem-solving skills. The English major offers excellent training for a wide variety of employment opportunities including writing, editing, journalism, film and television production, ministry, law, public relations, education, and business.

Bachelor of Science (BS) - Exercise Science Major
This major offers students an opportunity to learn the foundations of exercise science to enable them to access the components of fitness and prescribe exercise, to acquire competencies in health promotion such as nutrition, weight control, and stress management and develop administrative skills for health and fitness programming, marketing strategies, understanding legal concepts and ethical issues.  Career goals would include personal trainer, physical therapist, program director for wellness centers, athletic clubs, fitness centers and the YMCA.

Bachelor of Science (BS) - History
This major is a good choice for students interested in teaching, historical research and writing, law, politics or journalism. Components in U.S. history, world history and political science comprise a 45 credit-hour curriculum.

Bachelor of Science (BS) - Liberal Studies Major
This degree requires two of the following seven concentrations including Science & Math, Humanities, Social Science, Physical Education & Health, Communications, Business and Ministry.  Design your own major!

Bachelor of Science (BS) - Music Major
The four areas of emphases are General Music, Performance, Church Music and Contemporary Christian Music.  This major is designed for those students desiring to develop their music skills, music knowledge and appreciation of music within an evangelical Christian worldview.  Career goals would include church music ministry (traditional and contemporary), music teacher, professional/vocational performer, etc.

Bachelor of Science (BS) - Natural Science Major
The four areas of emphases include Biology, Chemistry, Math and Health Sciences.  This major is designed for those students wanting to study the principles of natural science from a Biblical worldview.  It will enable students to evaluate information in the light of science and Christian thought.  Career goals would include medical doctor, veterinarian, physical therapist, chemist, ecologist, etc.

Bachelor of Science (BS) - Psychology Major
This major is designed for those students who are seeking to study human behavior and mental processes from a Biblical perspective.  Career goals include counselor, psychologist, mental health worker, guidance counselor, human resources, etc.

Bachelor of Science (BS) - Social Science Major
The areas of emphases available are Psychology, Psychology/Sociology, History, History/Political Science, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Political Science and Pre-Law.  This major is designed for students seeking to acquire a greater understanding of the principles of human organization and of social forces within the greater community.  Career goals would include case manager, mental health worker, drug rehabilitation, elderly caregiver, politics, corrections, probation officer, etc.  A second major within Social Science is a Pre-Law emphasis for those students in pursuit of a career in law.

Bachelor of Science (BS) - Sports Management Major
This major is designed to provide students skills to organize, administer, and facilitate sport programs at the corporate and amateur levels.  Career goals would include advertising/marketing/promotions, athletic administration, communications, event management, resort management, etc.

Associate of Arts (AA)
This degree is basically geared for transfer to another four-year institution.  Example transfer programs are Art, Engineering, Dentistry, English, Education, History, Medicine, and Journalism.

Associate in General Studies (AGS)
The AGS degree is designed specifically for those students who wish to enter the job market upon graduation.  Students enrolled in this program prepare to enter jobs in fields such as Accounting, Banking, Finance, Agri-Business, Piano Instruction, Aviation, Church Music, Childcare, Social Service Assistant, etc.  If students decide to pursue a bachelor degree while at Central, they may change from the two-year stop-out (AGS) degree to the transfer (AA) degree.

Accreditation
Central is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, member - North Central Association.  Other accreditations and memberships include the Association of Christian Schools International, Association of Free Methodist Educational Institutions, National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities,  Kansas State Department of Education, University of Kansas, Kansas Independent College Fund, Kansas Independent College Association, and U. S. Office of Education for Administering Federal Programs, Jerusalem University College: The Institute of Holy Land Studies, Focus on the Family Institute in Colorado Springs; and Center for Urban Christian Studies: Olive Branch Mission in Chicago.

Scope
About 45% of Central's students are from Kansas, with the remaining 55% from other states and foreign countries such as Canada, Japan, Columbia, and Mexico.  Most students live on campus in the student housing provided.  A job service is provided at the College to aid students in finding jobs on and off campus while they attend Central.
