McPherson, KS – June 3, 2014 – Central Christian College Athletics Director, Chad Kerr, is pleased to announce the hiring of 2009 CCC graduate, Andrew Stauffer to take over the reins of the CCC men's and women's tennis program.
Coach Stauffer was a four year letter winner in both tennis and soccer during his time as a student at CCC. He played two years and served as an assistant coach for two years for Coach Jeremy Nelson, whom he is replacing as head coach.
Since graduating from CCC back in 2009, Stauffer has been teaching and coaching at the middle school and high school level. He taught at Newton Christian School in 2009-2010, teaching secondary Math and P.E. In 2010 he moved on and taught two years in Elkhart, Kansas. He was a secondary math teacher and coached middle school basketball and track at Elkhart Middle School.
Last summer Coach Stauffer left Elkhart and moved back to his hometown of Newton, Kansas. He taught this past school year in the Special Education Department at Hesston Middle School (Hesston, Kansas) where he also coached the middle school tennis team.
Chad Kerr commented on the hiring of Coach Stauffer saying, "We are excited to welcome Andrew back to CCC. We believe that he has the tools necessary to continue operating our tennis program at a high level."
In addition to his head coaching duties, Andrew will also be working part time as part of the Central Christian College Maintenance staff. He is actively working to add a couple of more players to his 2015 roster. He officially began his duties on Monday June, 2nd.
