The fall of 2014 marks a major milestone for Central Christian College of Kansas. For this first time since its inception in 1884, Central Christian College has a student population over one thousand. For the past eleven years, the College has seen positive growth numbers and now has a record 1,053 student enrolled. This represents a 25% increase in student enrollment in its traditional and online campuses since the fall of 2013.
The most significant growth has occurred in the online program, which has shown a 40 percent increase since last fall. Most recently, the College has launched an online psychology program, adding to its offerings in Criminal Justice, Healthcare Administration, Ministry Leadership, and Organizational Leadership. In addition, the College has unveiled a new on-campus program in Risk Management/Insurance. This move makes Central Christian College the first private college in the state of Kansas to offer a specific major in this field. The new major, has garnered strong support from Farmers Alliance, will allow students to complete studies in management, business, and insurance while, at the same time, providing opportunity to complete certifications needed to pursue lucrative careers in the insurance industry.
The College is also seeing exciting growth through community involvement. One example of this will be the grand opening and ribbon cutting for Kids Kampus, 1381 South Main. The ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 10, 2014. With this event, the College is responding to the need and demand for a childcare center that will serve the community of McPherson. With only two centers in town, Central made the decision to purchase one with a plan to double its size, with a license capacity of over 200 children. The center also includes a health station with a full time nurse on staff.
President Hal Hoxie believes that this development will be a great benefit for both our community and the college. “Central Christian College’s mission to provide a Christ-centered education for character aligns perfectly with caring for and training little people at Kids Kampus. It also provides another opportunity for our college students to work, learn, and connect with the community. We are excited God has blessed us to be able to double the openings for Kids Kampus care in the wonderfully renovated, state-of-the-art facility on CCC’s campus. We are also thankful that Wanda Williams, the founder and manager of Kids Kampus who has led childcare in McPherson for 20 years, will continue her work with Central Christian College in providing quality care for another generation of leaders in McPherson!”
