McPherson, KS – January 11, 2016 – Central Christian College men’s basketball player, Michael Gholston, has joined the 1000 point club. Gholston, the Tigers’ leading scorer this season, reached the milestone on Saturday against Arlington Baptist College. He scored 12 points in the Tigers’ 103-81 win over the Patriots to give him 1011 points for his career.
Michael is a 6’5” junior guard from Houston, Texas. For the season, he is the Tigers leading scorer, averaging 18.5 points per game for the 12-2 Tigers. He is shooting 46% from the floor, and 48% from behind the three point arc. For his career, he has made 43% of his attempts from the floor, and 44% of all of his 3 point attempts. With a season and a half left in his Tiger career, Gholston is on pace to break the all-time scoring mark of 1647, currently held by former CCC standout Chris Jones.
CCC head coach, Tony Romero, commented on the milestone reached by Gholston saying, “I am very proud of Mike, anytime someone can achieve 1000 points in their career is special. To do it with the consistency and as quick as he has is even more of an accomplishment. It is a joy and privilege to coach Mike, he is a great team mate and a very humble young man. As much he has grown as a player, I'm more proud of the strides he has taken in his growth as a person in our program. I'm excited to see what he accomplishes on and off the floor as he finishes his career.”
