Moody Tabbed As New Golf Coach

26-May-2014
Central Christian College Athletics Director, Chad Kerr, has announced the hiring of Kyle Moody to take over the reins of the CCC men's and women's golf program replacing Zac Cumpston who resigned earlier this month.

Moody, a native of Wichita Falls, Texas has been a part of the Central faculty the past two years as a professor in the Sports Science and Health Department. His first year at the college, he also served as an assistant baseball coach.

While baseball was the sport he focused on in high school and college, golf was his first love. Coach Moody was introduced to golf at an early age by his father. He entered his first competitive golf tournament at the age of five. He lettered in golf all four years of high school, but in college he focused on baseball, pitching for Vernon College (Vernon, TX) and The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (Chickasha, OK).

Moody graduated from USAO in 2004 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business Management. In 2006 he finished his graduate studies earning a Master's of Science through the Health Exercise and Sport Science Department at Texas Tech University. Upon graduation, Moody gained teaching and coaching experience at his alma mater, USAO. He then moved on for a two year stint as an assistant baseball coach and Sport Management professor at Cameron University (Lawton, OK). Prior to coming to CCC in the fall of 2012, Coach Moody taught and coached at Fletcher High School (Fletcher, OK).

Golf has always been a passion for Coach Moody, even when his academic and professional pursuits took him away from the game. He spent many summers after high school working at local golf courses in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, and had the opportunity to work the 2002 Master Card Colonial Tournament, a PGA Tour event in Las Colinas, Texas.

Coach Moody's other passions include his relationship with Christ, his family, and fishing. In 2007, Coach Moody married his college sweetheart Summer Bradshaw, and together they have been blessed with three children Amelia (2008), Jedidiah (2011), and Ezekiel (2013).

CCC Athletics Director, Chad Kerr, commented on the hiring of Coach Moody saying, "We are thrilled to have Kyle as our new Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach. Coach Cumpston did a nice job laying the groundwork for a successful Golf program and I'm confident Kyle can build on that foundation. He willingly jumped in and managed the women's program this year as a Club Sport, and he has the experience and recruiting ability to restart the women's as a Varsity Sport and take the men's to the next level."

When asked about the opportunity to coach golf at CCC, Coach Moody responded, "Golf is a great game. It allows you to simultaneously enjoy the grandeur of God's creation while you compete. I believe in a Christ-centered education for character, and look forward to the direction God is leading me and my family through the golf program here at Central."

Coach Moody begins his duties as the CCC golf coach immediately. He has already signed his first men's player for next year, and is actively pursuing several more men and women to fill out his roster for the 2014-2015 season.
