Summer Good News Updates

Dear Central Community,

We have been diligently lifting you up in prayer this summer as we have been anticipating your return.  We are delighted to share some positive improvements that are happening while you are enjoying your summer break.  These improvements include new faces in athletics, faculty and staff.  Additionally, you will notice an increase of incoming students, starting with 25 international students and near record levels of freshman and transfer students.

Our new Athletic Director, Mr. John Garvilla comes to us with extensive Athletic Director experience at both the NAIA and NCAA division 1 and 2 levels.  Mr. Garvilla and his family are looking forward to connecting with the Central family.

The Athletic Department is excited to announce the hiring of Mr. Stephen McNett.  Coach McNett hit recruiting out of the park as soon as he was hired.  He recruited great talent at the plate, on the mound, and acquired incredible gloves for defense in the field.

The Athletic Department is excited to announce the hiring of Mr. Arthur Watson.  Coach AJ will be serving as head coach for Track and Field and Cross-country as well as assisting Women’s Basketball with an emphasis on player development.

The Art Department is happy to announce the successful transition of Professor Amy Karnes to full-time teaching status.  Ms. Karnes is an accomplished artist and an engaging teacher whose students rave about her.

The Student Development office is happy to announce the hiring of Mr. Elijah Barsness as Gillespie Hall Resident Director and Director of Campus Life.  Mr. Barsness comes to us with bright ideas and experience in residence life.  Be sure to ask about his ESPN top-ten caliber soccer goal, widely regarded as the “Barsness Boot”.

Once again, we are working diligently pursuing excellence in everything we do at Central.  We are excited about what the Lord is accomplishing through this institution. Until your return we will continue to lift you up in prayer for this to be the best school year yet.
