MISSION STATEMENT
The Central Christian College Intramural Program strives to promote
wellness
and community and to offer an escape from the daily pressures of
college
life by providing physical activity, friendly competition, and a
relaxed
atmosphere.
OBJECTIVES
1. To provide programs that are geared towards mass
participation
rather than catering
to elite competition.
2. To have programs of activities that are organized for
and administered by students.
3. To implement a program of activities that provides
fitness,
social affiliation, and fun
through competitive and
recreational
pursuits; and
4. To provide a quality program which is highly
marketed,
visible, and reliable within
the college community.
While winning is an important goal, it is not the primary objective
of the Intramural Program: the main concern lies in
participation.
Sportsmanship, respect, cooperation, and teamwork, which are all
positive
attitudes toward recreation and leisure time activities throughout
life,
are emphasized. The objectives point toward the development of
the
total individual: physically, emotionally, spiritually, socially, and
intellectually.
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
- The ultimate aim is to create, among ALL participants, a positive
attitude
towards the necessity of participation in physical activity.
- Central Christian College invites you to participate in the
Intramural
Program. The Intramural Program is designed to enrich the college
experience of every participant, and to allow for maximum enjoyment.
- Something for everyone reflects the commitment to a quality
program
that
everyone can participate in and enjoy.
- Please accept this invitation as your opportunity to
participate!
It’s FUN and REWARDING. It’s a decision that you will not regret!
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Eligibility
- All full-time or part-time Central Christian College students,
staff,
and
faculty are eligible to participate in Central Christian College
Intramural
programs.
- Any team using ineligible players shall forfeit the games in
which the
offender took part.
- All team members must be listed on the official team entry form
to
participate.
Roster additions may be made in person during the season.
Participants
may play on only one team per sport. A player is not permitted to
transfer from one team to another. A player must play in at least
two league games to be eligible for tournament play.
- Suspension will cause an individual to be ineligible for
intramural
competition
during the time of the suspension.
How to Enter as a Team or Individual
The Intramural Program supports the “open” recreation system that
allows
participants to register for activities either individually or as a
team.
The appropriate entry form (individual and/or team), which is available
on the intramural bulletin board, located in the lobby of the
cafeteria,
must be filled out in its entirety.
Incomplete entry forms will not be accepted. Entry forms should
be
turned in at the intramural bulletin board. Participants who sign
up individually must attend the captains meeting and will be placed on
a team at the time.
Player Conduct
The development of sportsmanlike attitudes is a goal of the Central
Christian College Intramural Program. A sportsmanlike attitude is
expected of all participants, spectators, staff, and officials at all
times.
Each team is responsible for the actions of individual members and for
spectators directly related to the team. The conduct of players
before
and after the game is as important as the conduct during the game.
Disciplinary System
Verbalized Cussing
- 1st Offense - The offender will be documented and ejected for the
night.
Fighting
*Aggressively confronting and “getting in the face of” your opponent
could also be considered fighting.
- 1st Offense - The offender will be documented and ejected for the
night.
The violator will not be allowed to participate again until he/she has
met with Nathan Lockard and he approves their return to the sport.
*Disrespect Toward Staff and Officials - Any individual addressing
a staff member in unsportsmanlike or discourteous manner may
immediately
be ejected from the game. This is considered a 1st Offense under
fighting.
General Comments on Discipline
- Players, spectators, or entire teams may be
asked
to leave the playing area if displaying unsportsmanlike or disruptive
behavior.
- Destruction or theft of Intramural equipment will result in that
team/individual
being assessed the full cost of repairs or replacements.
- Additional campus conduct and behavioral policies apply to all
Intramural
activity.
- Professional discretion will be used, when necessary, to
interpret,
make
exceptions to, or add to any rules and policies in the Intramural
Program.
These decisions will be based on the integrity and overall philosophy
of
the Program.
Officiating
Intramural sports will employ a number of student officials throughout
the year. Opportunities include flag football, volleyball,
basketball,
indoor soccer, and other sports. No prior experience is
necessary,
just a knowledge of sports, dependability, and a “cool head.”
Officiating is a job that carries the following expectations:
1. Report 10 minutes
before game time;
2. Finding substitute
referee when needed;
3. Courteous to
players
and other officials;
4. Interest and
eagerness.
Rate of Pay for Officials - $5.00/game
If anyone is interested in officiating any sport, please contact
Leah Smith or Carley Chapman.
Forfeits
A ten-minute grace period will be given from the official game time for
any team to meet all the eligibility requirements for a game. If
a team fails to show up or does not have enough players for the
contest,
the official will declare a forfeit.
Rescheduling
Rainouts will be rescheduled when possible, dependent on weather and
facility
scheduling.
Awards
T-shirts will be presented to the Championship team at the end of each
tournament.
Health and Safety
Central Christian College is not responsible for injuries incurred by
participants
or spectators while competing in Intramural sports. It is
recommended
that each student carry health and accident insurance.
Participants
should understand the possibility of injury. An accident report
form
will be filled out and the participant advised if further care or
assistance
is required.
Responsibilities of Participants

- Provide all required data for the team entry form;
- Know the appropriate schedule of games;
- Arrive at the game or match site in advance and be prepared to
participate;
- Complete an Intramural sport evaluation.
