About the Speaker
Dr. Steve McCormick is currently Professor of Historical Theology, William M. Greathouse Chair for Wesleyan-Holiness Theology at Nazarene Theological Seminary. His areas of research, writing and teaching include Patristics, History of Christian Doctrine, Trinitarian, Ecclesiology and Wesley Studies.  Currently, he is the Wesleyan overseer, along with an Anglican overseer of a church that has been working to hold together two communions, one Anglican and one Wesleyan/Nazarene. The Church is Epworth Church on the Green, Boise, Idaho.

Dr. McCormick is a member and ongoing participant of the Oxford Institute of Methodist Theologicla Studies. He is the former president of the Wesleyan Theological Society and current chair of the Systematic Theology section of WTJ.

A few years ago, Dr. McCormick was invited to participate in a seminar of Wesley Scholars at Duke University. As a result of that experience, he is currently researching and writing a book on a Wesleyan Trinitarian Ecclesiology. He was also awarded the Bridwell Library Visiting Scholars Fellowship to study the Albert C. Outler papers on Vatican II at SMU during his sabbatical last year.

Dr. McCormick has been married to his wife, Tricia, for 33 years. Their dog, Gus, is 17 years old. (His regsitered name is St. Augustine-St. Chrysostom-John Wesley, naamed after the thesis of Dr. McCormick's dissertation.) Gus is an ecumenical dog trying to bring the East and the West together as a good Wesleyan but answers to Gus (after Augustine) because he is totally depraved. Dr. McCormick loves classical music and jazz. An avid runner, he ran the Boston Marathon about 12 years ago. He and Tricia love to travel, especially outside the country. Their five years of teaching at European Nazarene College changed them and their world view.

The Wesley Lecture Series
The Wesley Lecture Series was established in 1999 and occurs each fall on the Central Christian College campus.  This one day event allows excellent scholars who have special knowledge of John and Charles Wesley to bring a series of lectures to Central Christian College students, as well as many in ministry from the surrounding area..  Endowed by Mr. and Mrs. John Landrum of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, this series compliments the many activities and events sponsored and planned by the Ministry program at Central.
