Chapel/Convocation/HBC Program

A primary reason many students choose to attend Central is the ability to pursue a college degree within a Christ-centered environment. The Chapel/Convocation Program serves as the campus community focal point, designed to not only encourage spiritual growth, but also to draw you into a transforming relationship with Jesus Christ. The Chapel/Convocation Program is usually held Tuesday and Friday mornings at 9:30 a.m. in Greer Auditorium.

Chapels are specifically designed to personally challenge you to encounter God individually as you worship corporately.  Through a dramatic use of the communicative arts, high-energy worship, communion, and relevant life-challenges, Chapel serves as the fuel that can propel you on toward full devotion to Christ.

Convocations are specifically designed to present practical and relevant truths to the campus community. Many times Convocations have an educational or cultural component, which may or may not be "religious" in focus.  Whether it is a guest lecturer, special presentation, or campus wide forum, you will have the opportunity to grow in your understanding of the world around you.

We have tried to build a program that is responsive to student needs, desires, and input.
The purpose of the Chapel program at Central Christian College is to:

H.B.C. Groups

H.B.C.(Healthy, Biblical Community) is the name of our small group ministry where students meet to mutually support one another as they become fully devoted followers of Christ.  Central believes that maximized learning takes place when students are involved in a supportive and meaningful group environment.  Therefore, H.B.C. is designed as a place where you can engage in vital relationships. H.B.C. groups meet at various times and locations to better serve student schedules.

H.B.C. revolves around the community.  RA's (Resident Advisors), RD's (Resident Directors) and other student and faculty leaders serve as group facilitators.  Students must sign up for an H.B.C. group during the first week of each semester.

H.B.C. groups are designed to promote spiritual development by helping you build critical relationships with others seeking to grow in Christ. Many people get the idea that an H.B.C. group is synonymous with Bible Study, which is not necessarily true.  While we feel that the core of every H.B.C. meeting should have a spiritual focus, that does not mean we have to participate in a passive study environment.  Facilitators are encouraged to create dynamic environments and activities that allow you to interact with others and explore your faith through mutual encouragement and support.  That may mean instead of a Bible Study you may find yourself participating in a local service project, or a group initiative, or running down to the local doughnut shop to relax with your group.  Growing in the knowledge of Christ is important, but to do so void of the Body of Christ undermines the intent of the Church.  H.B.C. provides your wing with the opportunity to take hold of God's design.
