The Student Government Leadership Award criteria are as follows:

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Junior or Senior
  • Student must embody the philosophy of SGA as well as the college

The Following is the Speech Presented by Director of Campus Life Elijah Barsness

I have the pleasure of presenting the Student Government Leadership Award to an individual serving on SGA, but I first want to give a highly deserved recognition to the whole SGA team for all the activities they have provided and all the advocacy they have accomplished for you this year. Will all students who served on SGA this academic year please stand? These servant leaders have represented and served you well this year – let’s appreciate them now with a round of applause. Thank you.

This outstanding student is a graduating senior, has achieved a cumulative 3.5 GPA, started routinely for the men’s basketball team, served as a small group leader, and served on SGA two consecutive years, first as the Director of Intramurals and then as Student Body President.

It has been an incredible blessing to get to know and grow alongside this student over the last two years. He has significantly grown this year in his confidence of leading others, in his skills of leadership, and most importantly, in his walk with Christ as he sought to be a consistent, godly witness to every person around him. It is with these things in mind that I can confidently say that he has embodied the philosophy of SGA as well as the college. Please join me in congratulating Mr. Reece Warren.
