Dr. Favara first became acquainted with Central Christian College of Kansas when he attended Central College as a student in 1987. During that time, he was a member of the Cross Country team, served on the Student Government as the Christian Life Director, participated in OIKIA, sang in the choir, served as mascot, and was involved with drama. He graduated with an Associate of Arts and a Bachelor of Science in Ministry.
After graduation, he returned briefly in the 1990’s to serve on the admissions team, returning in 2000, serving in several different capacities, including Coach, Campus Pastor, RD, Professor, and Provost.
Favara holds a Doctorate in Philosophy in Psychology, with a specialization in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, from Northcentral University in Scottsdale, AZ, and a Master of Science from Kansas State University. He is a certified Faculty Developer and is an ordained Elder in the Free Methodist Church.
In the local community, “Lenny” has been a proud supporter of McPherson and the surrounding area, serving on a number of different boards such as the McPherson Center for Health, United Way, and Chamber of Commerce. Though if asked, he would tell you that some of his most enjoyable memories stem from his time with the McPherson Community Theatre, directing such favorites as The Wizard of Oz, My Fair Lady, Honk, and Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Demonstrating a deep commitment to student success and a great appreciation for the College’s historical context and mission, Dr. Favara is passionate about guiding the College and preparing it for its sesquicentennial celebration in 2034.
Partnering with Favara is Dr. Deanna (Martin) Favara, daughter of Kenneth, CC’61, and Vida Martin. Also having served in several roles, including Administrative Assistant, Resident Director, Instructor, and Director of Dual-Credit, “Dea” now enjoys serving the campus community as First Lady.
