COMMENCEMENT AT CENTRAL

In September 1884, under the leadership of Principal Damon, Orleans Seminary opened its doors. Later, in 1914, the College moved to McPherson, KS under a new name, “Central Academy and College”. Since that time, much has changed at the institution now known as Central Christian College of Kansas, but its mission – the one Principal Damon envisioned many years ago – has stayed the same: to provide a “Christ-Centered Education for Character” to each and every person who walks through its doors.

For nearly a century and a half, Central has maintained that mission and seen thousands graduate through its doors and on their way to lead lives of character and service – all to the glory of God.

Graduation, or rather Commencement, as it is more formally known, is typically just known as a ceremony in which students are recognized for their academic achievements. But at Central, it means so much more. At Central, it means a celebration of what God has done in the lives of each and every graduate and what he will continue to do.

To those who will or have graduated from CCCK, President Favara says it best when he says,

“We believe that God has a purpose and plan for every student that calls CCCK home. During our time we have shared with you our mission, intended to shape character and prepare you to fulfill God’s unique design for your life. Some of that we have seen while you were with us. Now we wait in great anticipation to see your story unfold your journey continues.”

Graduation is happening in person Saturday, May 6, 2023

For those that can’t make it in person, we will be live streaming the event at the McPherson Free Methodist Church Live Streams. We also are inviting you to submit a photo of you wearing your regalia that will be used during the ceremony. This can be done on the bottom of this page.

FAQs

What Should I Wear?

We recommend what you would wear to any other special non-formal event, such as a traditional church service, awards ceremony, or nice dinner (i.e. “dressy casual”). For men, this means a collared shirt and dark trousers/slacks. Women are advised to keep skirts/dresses knee-length or longer and wear comfortable shoes.

Where Can We Park?

You and your guests will be able to park in front of Science Hall (1200 South Main Street McPherson, Kansas 67460) or at the McPherson Free Methodist Church (1010 S Maple St, McPherson, KS 67460)

How Do I Get There?

The campus is located on the very south end of Main Street in McPherson, KS. If you need more detailed directions, we recommend using Google Maps (map of McPherson: http://goo.gl/maps/HdE42).

What if I can’t come in person?

We are sad that you won’t be able to join us in person and are excited to still celebrate your major accomplishment of graduating from college. We are inviting all students who can’t make it in person to submit a photo of themselves in their regalia that can be used during the ceremony. If you do not have your regalia with you it will be mailed to you. Graduates be watching for a survey coming from the academic office that will collect the information of where it needs to be sent.

How many people can I bring with me?

Guest seating will NOT be limited in the sanctuary and overflow will be available in the church’s fellowship hall. Questions can be directed to the Registrar’s Office (registrar@centralchristian.edu or 620-241-0723 x116).
