Les and Margie Hargadine have been part of the Central and the McPherson community for over 60 years.

Margie heard about Jesus and became saved at a high school during summer camp. She came to attend Central Academy (high school) from 1956-1958 and went on to attend Central College in 1959. During that time, she met college sophomore Les, also a new believer. Les and Margie were married in 1959. In July, they celebrated 61 years of marriage and credit much of their success to what they learned at Central College and their church.

While at Central College, Les focused on pre-engineering classes and playing athletics: baseball and basketball. Margie was involved in basketball, cheerleading, student council, dorm council, and yearbook. After attending Central College, Les worked several jobs before serving at the NCRA Refinery in McPherson for 11.5 years and at Johns Manville for 25 years. He continued to promote within the company until he retired.

Margie worked as the church secretary at the McPherson Free Methodist Church for a total of 23 years along with dear friends, Rev. Tom and Bettie Griffith and later for Rev. David Kendall. Les states that “my feeling is that God must have known I needed someone to watch over me. Tom [Griffith] was His chosen one”. God has truly blessed this couple, through their family (three daughters who all attended CCCK), their occupations, and their service.

Now, you can find Margie and Les traveling, playing golf, and volunteering countless hours at CCCK during summer work days.
