Online Student Awarded National Scholarship

Adrienne EdwardsMcPherson, Kansas – The Central Christian College of Kansas chapter of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society (ASL) is excited to announce that current online student Adrienne Edwards was chosen by the national ASL scholarship committee to receive a $2,500 scholarship. Since the chapter’s inception, Adrienne is the first CCCK nominee to be selected for this honor.

Adrienne is currently a senior in the online Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice program and has demonstrated a stellar academic record with a 3.96 cumulative GPA and inclusion on the Dean’s List for every semester of her attendance. She was inducted as a member of the ASL Honor Society in 2020. She says of her time here,

I would be lying if I said there weren’t times I wanted to give up. There have been plenty. Some courses are incredibly difficult for me. The only thing I can say is that I pray a lot and stay focused on the end goal. God has shown me so much grace throughout my time here at CCCK.

The accomplishments in her personal life are just as noteworthy. She has a heart for the homeless, veterans, and first responders and began a nonprofit, “Hope for the Homeless and Wounded Warriors,” that has been operating for 10 years in Colorado. She further supports these groups by breeding purebred German Shepherds and donating them as service dogs to another nonprofit in her area. She helps with community organizations such as the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo and is currently working as a full-time nanny for three children.

Adrienne’s goals after graduation include starting a career with either the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service or the Federal Emergency Management Agency, owning a full-scale cattle operation, and expanding her nonprofit to house and provide work for homeless veterans while helping them integrate back into society.
