Presidential Bible Finds an Upgraded Home

The Central Christian College Presidential Bible has a history that has spanned decades. It was first given to Mendal B. Miller, the fifth President of Central, by an honored McPherson citizen and professor, Burr Miller. Since then, the Bible has been passed on to each President of Central. The cover of this Authorized King James Version Bible is engraved with the words, “The President’s Desk”. Past Presidents, starting with Bruce Kline in 1964, have signed their names inside the front cover, along with their terms of presidency. The Presidential Bible has become an enduring reminder of the sacredness of the presidential task, a symbol of the office, and a resource of immeasurable value.

After 75 years of gracing the desk of the President, it was President Favara’s desire to protect and preserve this piece of history, while at the same time maintaining access to it as a resource and point of inspiration. He had a case created to serve as a home to the Presidential Bible by former employee Jeff Brown; allowing it to be safeguarded, displayed, and utilized by all future Presidents of the College. With its new, upgraded home, the Presidential Bible shall continue to be displayed in the President’s office for years to come.
