After high school, Ron attended Central Christian College in McPherson, Kansas. He then attended Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, CO before taking a pastoral position with the Friends Church in Hasty, CO in 1981. After receiving his diploma in Biblical Studies Ron and his wife Letha took their first assignment at a Nazarene church in Eastern Colorado at a little town called Karval, where they would spend the next 22 years leading that congregation. They retired in 2010. In the fall of 2019, the severity of Ron’s dementia became severe enough that it was time to make the disheartening decision to place him in a Nursing Home, where he remained until his final departure.
