Federal and State Aid

Federal and State Aid is provided by the Federal or State Governments and is subject to eligibility, restrictions, and when applicable repayment.

$6,500 PELL GRANT

The Federal Pell program was authorized by the federal government in 1972. This program provides for the payment of awards to students based on financial need.

$750 SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY GRANT

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG) are available to students with financial need as determined by the Need Analysis System. FSEOG will be awarded to students who have a high need and Federal Pell Grant eligibility.

$3,500 SUBSIDIZED LOAN

Under the Federal Stafford Loan Program, a student borrows from a participating lending institution. The maximum amount that a student may borrow is $3,500 for a freshman, $4,500 for a sophomore, and $5,500 for juniors and seniors. The federal government will pay the interest until the student graduates, leaves school, or drops below half-time and his/her repayments on the loan begin. The repayment of these loans may be extended over a ten-year period. The Central Christian College financial aid office can help determine eligibility.

$1,500-$3,000 KANSAS
COMPREHENSIVE GRANT

Residents of Kansas attending a Kansas private college may be eligible for $1,500 – $3,000 under the Kansas Comprehensive Grant (KCG) program. A FAFSA must be received by the Department of Education by April 1.

$2,000 UNSUBSIDIZED LOAN

Under the Federal Stafford Loan Program, a student borrows from a participating lending institution. With the unsubsidized loan, the student does not get the same interest subsidies as the Subsidized Federal Stafford Loan program. The student is responsible for the interest. Repayment obligations are the same as the Subsidized Federal Stafford Loan Program. Independent and dependent students whose parents were denied the Federal Parent Loan to Undergraduate Students (FPLUS) are eligible for additional amounts. The Central Christian College financial aid office can help determine eligibility.

Institutional and Federal/State Aid Totals

Students on Campus

You could qualify for up to $15,750 in additional federal and/or state aid annually. That’s up to $63,000 overall over 4 years!

Example: In this hypothetical scenario, Sarah, a business major, is coming to Central on an academic scholarship. She applied, sent in all her documents, and deposited by the April 1st deadline, receiving the $250 early bird scholarship. Upon graduating high school, she finished with a GPA of 3.70, receiving $14,000 a year at CCCK.

In addition, Sarah is a talented singer and is joining the choir. She is offered and receives a $2,000 a year participation scholarship. To top it all off, Sarah finds out she is eligible for max federal and state aid (Pell Grant, SEOG, KS Comp., and Subsidized and Unsubsidized loans).

That puts Sarah at a total of $32,000 in annual aid ($128,000 over 4-years). With 2022-23 Tuition and Room & Board at $38,400, Sarah pays $6,400 out of pocket or with other outside scholarships and loans.
