Alpha Sigma Lambda 2023 Nominations

The Sigma Phi chapter of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Society (ASL) is pleased to announce the nominations of Laura Robinson and Danielle Wood for a scholarship opportunity through the national ASL office. Each chapter may only submit two students for consideration and we consider Laura and Danielle to be excellent representatives of the values of CCCK and the work ethics of our non-traditional students. We wish them luck as their applications are reviewed by the national scholarship committee.

Laura Robinson is a Junior in the online Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration program and has a 3.96 cumulative GPA. Laura is the Chair of the Coalition of Oklahoma Breastfeeding Associates for the equality, diversity, and inclusions committee. She serves on many Lactation Consultant committees within her Tribal hospital and community and is a member of the Holdenville General Hospital Board. Laura is on the USDA food task force where she is working to improve WIC participants’ shopping experience by making the program accessible through online shopping. Samantha Starke, CCCK Online Instructor, said about Laura, “Laura is dedicated to her profession in healthcare, she is compassionate and caring. She also takes her education very seriously. You can tell she wants to be the best that she can be!”

Danielle Wood is a Junior in the online Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Services program and has a 3.98 cumulative GPA. Being a homemaker keeps Danielle very busy. She volunteers for her local Bow Festival to help raise funds for the HeadStart program. Danielle also cleans forgotten headstones and places flowers for those who have none. She leads by example by doing things such as buying groceries for someone who cannot afford them and paying for the meal of an elderly man next to her at a restaurant. CCCK Faculty Cheyenne Kroeker had this to say about Danielle, “Should Danielle continue to drive towards the behavioral sciences, she will do great in her profession. She is trustworthy as well as displays integrity. She understands how important the therapeutic relationship is and why it’s important to maintain the appropriate guardrails already established in the industry.”
