Greco Named Online Faculty of Distinction

Tom GrecoWritten by Caleb Koerperich, Manager of Academic Services

McPherson, Kansas – At this year’s School of Professional and Distance Education Commencement ceremony, Professor Tom Greco was honored as Central Christian College of Kansas’s (CCCK) first-ever Online Faculty of Distinction.

Chosen by online students and fellow online instructors, the Faculty of Distinction must exemplify a HEART that fosters community by inspiring students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn and by working with colleagues within and across disciplines, departments, and programs; a SOUL that exemplifies a life of sacrifice, stewardship, and service to God and the Church; a STRENGTH that illustrates a professional persona appropriate to the office of instructor and maintains a balanced response to the demands of the office; and a MIND that encourages intellectual enthusiasm and fosters critical inquiry across the curriculum.

Mr. Greco served in the Army for over 24 years in peace and war. His assignments included various staff and infantry command positions in Europe, the United States, Southwest Asia, and the Republic of Panama. In the Army he was primarily an infantry commander, leading and serving in units from platoon to brigade task force in peace and war, including leading a task force during Operation Desert Storm. He also served on a variety of high-level staffs in the joint services environment and with US agencies and international coalitions. Additionally, he served as the Dean of Students at the US Military Academy. Mr. Greco retired from active duty as a Colonel in 1996.

From 2012-2016, Mr. Greco was part of CCCK’s on-campus family. During that time, he served as Chief Operating Officer of the College and oversaw the online Criminal Justice program. Today, he continues to serve CCCK’s students as an online instructor and Director of the Criminal Justice program. He also currently serves as the pastor of Ontario Community Church in Ontario, Oregon.

His passions are his faith in God, his family, learning all that he can, and sharing his gifts and talents with others. His goals when teaching are that he and the students learn from each other, grow in knowledge and understanding of the material and have a whole lot of fun learning together.

Mr. Greco earned his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, and his Master’s degree in Business Management from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, MI. He also completed post-graduate studies at the US Army Command and General Staff College and the US Army War College in National Security Strategy.
