Alumni Obituary – Corey Robert Bruce

Corey Robert Bruce (CC’00), 47, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, surrounded by family and friends  at Ascension Via Christi-St. Francis, Wichita.  Corey worked at Piping Tech as a Safety Coordinator and was a partner in Central Investments Group, LLC.

Corey was born on January 20, 1976, in McPherson, KS, the son of Tommy L. and Sandy J. (Lowe) Bruce.  He graduated from McPherson High School in 1994 and from Central Christian College in 2000. On July 3, 2004, Corey was united in marriage to Jennifer N. Turner in rural Galva, KS.  This union was blessed with two children, Cooper and Maylin.

Survivors include: his wife, Jennifer “Jen” Bruce and children, Cooper Bruce and Maylin Bruce, all of the home; parents, Tommy Bruce of Galva, KS and Sandy & Steve Ratzlaff of Hutchinson, KS; grandmother, Gloria McMurray of McPherson, KS; siblings, Jason (Ann) Bruce of Lindsborg, KS, Myron Bruce of Wamego, KS, Lenny (Tia) Bruce of McPherson, KS, Stephen Ratzlaff of Hutchinson, KS, Sam Ratzlaff of Hutchinson, KS; mother-in-law, Denise Turner of McPherson, KS; brother-in-law, Jeff (Cathy) Turner of Salina, KS; his close friends and business partners, Gene Wilson and Nic Winsky, both of McPherson, KS; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leonard & Vena Bruce and Sam McMurray; father-in-law, Phil Turner; and sister-in-law, Julie Turner.

A visitation was held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Countryside Covenant Church.  A funeral service was held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 22, at Countryside Covenant Church with Rev.
