Alumni Obituary – Ruth L. (Williams) Finger

Ruth Williams FingerRuth L. Finger (CC’43), age 100, of Phoenix met her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.

Ruth was born on April 2, 1922, to Charles and Nellie (Hogan) Williams in Kansas City, MO. She attended Central College in McPherson, KS, followed by Greenville College in Greenville, IL, and finished her schooling at Seattle Pacific College in Seattle, WA. She married Lester H. Finger in 1949 in McPherson, KS. Ruth and Lester spent most of their 63 married years in Phoenix, AZ, where they raised their five daughters, Mary (Dennis) Henry, Barbara (Robert) Cranston, Nancy (Rick) Hoover, Naomi (Mike) Gregornik, and Carol (Dale) Stewart. Ruth was very active in her church, First Free Methodist Church, Phoenix Christian High School, and Light and Life Christian School for many years. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was strong, kind, generous, and a loving friend. She loved her Lord most of all.

In addition to her daughters, she is survived by sisters Mary Bauer and Helen (Gerald) Miller, 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Nellie Williams, husband Lester Finger, daughter Barbara (Finger) Cranston, and her brother Charles Williams.

A Celebration of Life service was held on Saturday, June 18, 2022. Memorial gifts may be made to Camp Zion at www.campzion.com.
