Dr. Brett Janssen, Department Chair of the Music Department, represented CCCK by presenting at the Kansas Music Educators Association (KMEA) in-service workshop on Friday, February 28th in Wichita.  His presentation was titled “Incorporating Audiation Techniques in Beginning Piano Lessons,” which was designed to assist music teachers who want to improve their piano teaching.  Dr. Janssen presented this last fall at the Kansas Music Teachers Association (KMEA) conference in Hillsboro, KS, to an audience of predominantly piano teachers, whereas the audience at KMEA is predominantly K-12 classroom music teachers.

Janssen also serves on the Executive Board for KMEA as the Vice President of Associations. He also received his Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with a Music Cognate in May of 2017 at Kansas State University.
